Another good read!

I have been really into reading lately, although it does take me a while to finish a book... I am a Mom, enough said! Anyway I just finished reading this novel, There's No Place Like Here, by the same author as P.S. I Love You. I haven't read the book, but I have seen the movie. She is a talented writer and I loved this book. It's very different from most books I read. I like to read girly love stories and this book is definitely not along those lines, but I'm glad I stepped away from the norm. Here is a synopsis borrowed from Barnes and Noble's website:

Bestselling author Cecelia Ahern, whose sparkling novels have more than 5.5 million copies in print worldwide, returns with an ambitious, absorbing, and romantic tale of things -- and people -- lost and found People disappear every day, some because they choose to leave their old lives behind, and some for more unpleasant reasons. Things, too, disappear: mittens and cell phones, wallets and luggage. In every case, someone is left behind; someone is left to wonder what happened.

Ever since her classmate Jenny-May vanished when they were ten years old, Sandy Shortt has been obsessed with finding things. Now grown, Sandy's obsession has become a calling, with her own agency devoted to locating missing persons. But with every failed case, Sandy is plagued with questions: Where do missing people go? Are they alive or dead? Did they intend to disappear, or did they suffer some cruel fate? As these questions threaten to consume her, Sandy suddenly finds that she, herself, has disappeared, and that she has found all the answers she's always searched for in a magical place where all lost things and people go.

A romance that explores the meaning of loss and love, There's No Place Like Here is Cecelia Ahern's most satisfying, most inspired, most entrancing novel yet.

I hope you'll check it out!

Pictures from July 4th trip

4th of July trip

For the 4th we decided to take a little trip north to Atlanta. My friends and I thought we should explore the city a little since we have lived so close to it for years and have never gone to any of the tourist-y places. On the way we had to make a stop at the dwarf house...it's a tradition for me :) Mark had to experience it too! Once we got checked into our room we decided to go to Target and Wal-Mart...what a night!! I love you girls and you know why! HaHa!
Saturday we got up and went to IKEA! Oh and am I in love. I will def. be making a trip back there very soon. We had lunch at the Varsity which was really fun. They make a fabulous BLT too. The plan for the night was to go to Stone Mountain for fireworks, but by the time we were going to go they had already reached their capacity, so we had to find something else to do. We had a little help from Jill's brother, Justin and he suggested we go to a park. I forgot the name...but it was beautiful. They had a huge playground area and lake. I wish we could have brought it back with us to Columbus. We had a picnic lunch and fed the ducks. Mark and I also played on the playground. He loves to go down the slide now. We thought we could catch some of the fireworks shows in the area and we managed to catch the end of all of them. The only problem was that we only saw the very tip of them. Although the fireworks were a bust we had a really fun day!
Sunday we got up, packed, and checked out of our room. Justin was speaking at his church that morning, so we went to hear him. He did a great job. We went to eat at a cute little Mexican resturant after, but it wasn't as good as El Vaquero. So after lunch we finally reached the Georgia Aquarium...yay :) It was amazing and I took so many pictures. Mark fell asleep halfway through, but he got to see some fun stuff before his nap. We left there and went straight to World of Coke which was really neat too. I highly recommend both attractions :)
After our day out we got dinner at Hard Rock Cafe. You really can't visit Atlanta without eating there. It was delicious as always, but they charge way too much for a kid's meal...$7.50 really? We finally hit the road to come around 9:30, so it was a late night for us once we got back into town. I think I have finally recovered, almost a week later. I know I had a blast! I am so lucky to have such awesome friends!!

Our new friend Emma

Mark loves Emma!

All the girls!

Last month we had the pleasure of meeting a sweet new friend. Emma is from Australia and she came to Columbus to visit. She stayed with my best friends so we all got to hang out a lot! We even got to show her around Auburn, although we forgot to take pictures. Hopefully she will get to come back in November and we can take some then. We miss you!
